Solution to QTP IE (Internet Explorer) crash / Does not load issue

This solution is with respect to the below two issues with QuickTest Professional (QTP):
  1. When QTP is open, IE (Internet Explorer) does not load.
  2. When QTP is open, IE (Internet Explorer) loads and then immediately crashes.
The Solution:
  1. Open QTP
  2. Go to Tools > Options.
  3. Ensure the check box for “Display Add-in Manager on startup” is checked.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Close and Reopen QTP
  6. When QTP loads, uncheck the ActiveX add-in.
  7. Click OK.
There you go! issue should be fixed.

Note : This solution is handy only for applications where Activex add-in is not required and not otherwise.

  1. What if Activex controls are used, i think there is a patch for IE to work with QTP
